It matters not because I want to be the coolest kid on the block with the most unique name. It matters because A) I want to know I chose the name and not a huge media influence. B) I have a traditional and uncommon name. I love that I'm the only Mae most people know (besides maybe their grandmother's bff). For me, I enjoyed being the "only" one. I would like for my kids to at least get to avoid being 1 of 5 in the 2nd grade.
