My Mood:
Re: Need a thicker diaper cream

My dh says that barrier creams don't work as well as cornstarch (he's a Pediatric specialist - NICU), so that's what we use. Ds had a rash at less than a week old, I think it is pretty typical once they start pooping and before their skin really transitions, and I was slathering him with cream, and it wasn't doing jack. So finally, dh told me I was not using the right product and we went out and got cornstarch with zinc in it. He says it's more drying than creams, and diaper rashes need to be kept very dry. And the rash cleared up within a couple of days and hasn't been back. I'm not going to use creams anymore. And I wish he'd said something when I was buying diaper creams.
