Yup, it really differs from person to person. My friend, for example, is type 1 diabetic, but while pregnant has awesome blood sugars and needs very little insulin. I, OTOH, have ITP and being pregnant causes my platelets to go much lower than when I'm not pregnant.

Not pregnant, I average 90-100. By the end of my last full-term pregnancy I was down to low 50s.
OP - yes, vision loss/problems is common with diabetes. I would be getting an appt much sooner than 4 weeks away and bringing up all these symptoms, along with telling the Dr that there's a family history of diabetes.
