Wow! You learn something new every day. I'm so glad you asked, I wouldn't have recommended anything but Eucalan, and am glad to know regular detergent works.
When they aren't really grimy, I heartily recommend using Eucalan in your FLer. I've had great results ... I used Imse Vimse machine washable wool covers, and never had to lanolize washing them in Eucalan.
