well before running in i would suggest soaking in the tub and tell him to pee in there as it will hurt less. 2 rinsing well could dislodge any dried urine or dirt in the tract.
2 increase his water and give him cranberry juice if he can tolerate it. if its a uti, you dont always need antibiotics. flushing the bladder often helps tremendously and i would give pain meds for a couple days to help with any swelling in urethra. obvioulsy if he cannot pee, go in immediately
