My Mood:
Re: Am I missing anything with this "birth plan"?

I think for your OB this is a great plan--she/he will know what you want & how important it is, BUT, for the hospital staff, I think it needs a major edit.

My hospital (2 c/s) said that a bulleted list, with SHORT concise goals is the best/easiest for them to follow.

I'd also add in if you want to be covered/draped (I was stark naked for my first c/s!) and if you want to watch the baby come out.

Here is how I would change it---I did add some slight changes in the wording too.

Prior to C-section and during:

Experienced ultrasound technicians only (no students)
Delayed cord clamping
Experienced nurse accessing port only (no students)
Blood pressure cuff on port side (one free arm)
Want to see & touch my son immediately after birth (before toweling off/going to nurse’s station)

Post partum and in hospital:

I will provide my own food.
PET scan by Dr. N before discharge

Baby and Child care (NICU):

No eye drops/ointment
Notification PRIOR to procedures that change baby’s appearance (UA line/intubation)
IV/Blood draws are okay & do not require notification
No bath-we will do the first bath
Bonding with family/sibling as soon as possible
Breast milk only, no pacifier

Baby and child care (Well baby):

No eye drops/ointment
Bonding with family/sibling as soon as possible
Rooming in, no nursery stay
No bath-we will do the first bath
Breast milk only, no pacifier
