Re: Oral Motor specialist and cutting frenulum

my DS's frenulum was clipped the day he was born at home by our midwife when she observed the way he latched on and then saw his heart-shaped tongue.

she actually told me that old school midwives used to keep one long, sharp nail on their pinky finger just for the purpose of cutting a frenulum!

my son didnt even cry, and there was no blood at all, but it was definitely nerve-wracking for a couple of seconds! his latch improved instantly and he has a completely normal mouth now. if my next kiddo has this, i will have the procedure done right away as well. it can cause dysfunctional nursing, speech issues later, etc, etc.
