I understand the fear, but if you're going to give the vit K no matter what, I would seriously research the virgin gut. The idea is that introducing anything other than breastmilk in the first 4-6 months causes damage to the gut, since it's not fully closed. I would think that the "risks" of the shot would be lower than the risks of introducing a non-breastmilk substance into a newborn's gut.
