Yes. Ours is like this too. This kind in not dangerous. It is the ones that are plastic for the runner that goes up and down. Ours also runs on a metal rod. I looked up its serial number and it has not been recalled.

I love drop side cribs. I'm tall, and even I find it hard to put a baby into the crib with the side all the way up.
I would like to blame my phone for all the typos but in reality the poor thing is just trying to keep up with my crazy thumb typing while holding a baby.
