Hemparoos are by far worth their cost. It's hard to find them secondhand though - I'm in need of a few larges myself and keeping an eye out. It's also easy to get confused when buying used and think you're buying a prefold and its actually a Joeybunz. (hemparoo = joeybunz to a lot of people) Be sure to doublecheck.

Thirsties seconds are supposed to do a very good job, but beware - I wasted money on them because I didn't read the measurements carefully enough. Example, a medium FB needs a *small* Thirsties, NOT a medium. I think I would have been happy with them if they'd fit properly, the thickness was good and they sure did seem to hold a lot with the water test (12oz).
