You can definitely do it. I did pretty much the same thing that the pps said, including freezing in ice cube trays, for DS. I hadn't really planned on making my own, but when DS refused jarred bananas, I tasted them and realized they did not taste like bananas, so I mashed some up for him and he loved them. After that, I started steaming and processing almost everything (except carrots. We stuck with jarred carrots). If you make a bunch of one thing at a time, it really doesn't take a lot of effort. I would just do one food a night while making dinner and eventually I had a good variety. If I was baking something, I would toss in a couple of sweet potatoes or some squash and cook it in with dinner.
