I do. I use about 3/4 cup of baking soda to 1/2 cup of borax (that's for hard water, if you don't have hard water, you use them in 1:1 ratios). I use about a tbls per load. I also filled my rinse agent spot with a mixture of vinegar and lemon eucylpus EO. This part ended up being REALLY important for us. The dishes weren't quite getting clean until I added the vinegar and EO. Once I added them, they do great.
