with an older child its easy to do it when they jump on your back when you are squated down, like a piggy back ride, than throw it over the two of you and tie it. It took me a few time to get to know how tight to tie it and how high it should be up with her and with an older child it works good at their mid back since they have ballance and can hold on to your shoulders.
