With DS, insurance covered the rental of a medela symphony. With DD, I was provided with medela double electric pump (which is essentially a pump in style with a less fancy carrying bag) for free. With both kids, I was covered by medical assistance, and both were preemies (5 and 6 weeks early) but came home within 3 days.. not sure if that affected coverage or not. But its certainly worth looking into. This time around, I'll just use my medela pump unless we end up with a lengthy NICU stay.. in that case I'll need to rent a hospital grade pump, but Im sure it'll be covered while he's in NICU.
