Katie from Ewe Need It told me to try baking soda.... place yarn in bag with baking soda to absorb the smell, store for a couple of days and then shake out the baking soda.
You might then need to do a quick soak to get the remainder of the baking soda out.
If it doesn;t work, wash your yarn in dawn to strip any of the lanolin that might be holding onto the odor.... then relanolize in a scent of your choice...
