I am sorry I didn't realize the thread had been updated.

My daughter said to add shortening and keep it warm. She said they NEVER use water, it's always powdered sugar, marshmallows and only adding shortening to keep it from getting dry. She said they often have to microwave it a few times while working with it. They never ever use regular fondant at the cake shop, only the marshmallow.
