Re: Taking a one year old on a plane??...crazy??

As a CPS tech I just have to jump in here and say ALL children are MUCH safer restrained in a certified car seat while traveling on a plane. Install it rear facing next to you, so your babe can see you, and she'll be happier too. I have known lots and lots of moms that take and use their car seats and it works great. Slings and MTs are great for going through airports and getting on the plane, but for the actual air travel kids need to be restrained in a car seat. If $$ are super tight book a flight that's likely to have empty seats and use one for your babe. I really can not stress enough how much safer a restrained child is. Turbulence injurers and kills all too often. Plus, in the event of a crash, a car seat CAN save your child's life. In the Souix City, IA crash a few years back the only children that survived were ones properly restrained in car seats or old enough for the lap belt. A child can not be safely held in your arms.
