I'll be the dissenter and say it depends on what her normal temp is. My children and I always run around 97.6/8 orally if our temp isn't elevated. So, if it's up to over 99, I consider it to be slightly elevated and assume they are fighting something. As an adult, which I know we are different, if mine goes up to over 99, I can feel it immediately and I feel rotten. I don't consider it a high fever, but it is above normal for us which typically means we are fighting something.

That said, a temp taken by ear is generally a little higher than oral. So, it sounds normal to me. You can google the normal temp when taking it by ear.

ETA - I'm very glad she is better. I would be paranoid too.
