My Mood:
Re: Teaching your kids to read

I read to my kids a lot. Each kid is different. My middle child just seemed to pick up letter sounds from life. I never really taught them to him. My 5 year old learned off of starfall. My oldest it was a struggle of just sitting down and going through each letter slowly on what they said. We would work on one or two letters a week, and some he remembered week to week and some he did not. My older two could read at 7 and 6. My youngest is really not showing a lot of interest in learning to read yet so I am giving it another year till I start to push a bit at getting him to start learning more then letter sounds. He knows all of them by themselves but has no desire to blend them together or to read a book.
