I didn't have a HB - but was considering it because I was low risk and had an easy pregnancy. My son would not have survived a HB, so I'm glad I didn't choose a midwife or HB and decided on a Hospital. DS cord was wrapped around his neck several times and his heart would stop each time I had a contraction. (Not certain how HB would have been able to track this without the use of fetal heart monitor). He would choke everytime I pushed - they were preparing me for an emergency C-section (non-optional) when he popped out with the assistance of the Dr who used tongs. Luckily he was small - but his size was due to a blood condition which if not diagnosed soon after birth may have led to brain damage. So I am very grateful that I had the assistance of modern technology to help my son into this world.
