EasyLunchBoxes

I was going to go with a bento system this year, but DH talked me out of it. Together we found www.easylunchboxes.com

They ROCK!!
AFFORDABLE!!! Fast shipping.
You can even fan them on facebook and get loads of ideas.

No inner containers to accidentally throw out.
Easy for the LO's to open.
The perfect size.
Even their lunch bags are terrific. We've used them all summer for quick outtings.

I plan on making lunches the night before for our DS in 1st grade and the 2 girls at home. I've been doing it this summer when we have leftovers.

I also bought some solo condiment cups to use for dips.

If anyone else has used Easy Lunch Boxes, I'd love to hear your thoughts!!

Re: EasyLunchBoxes

those are exactly the same as the ziploc containers but only these cost like 10x more.

I love some of the lunch ideas....I bookmarked that page so I can refer to it

Re: EasyLunchBoxes

I had some Ziploc containers that I threw into the recycle bin a few weeks back. They were light and flimsy and bendy and cracked.

I ordered my 7 year olds boxes from EasyLunchBoxes and we just got them today. While the girls aren't too happy with the plain solid colored lunch boxes, I am really liking the containers. They are thick and sturdy. They don't bend at all. They seem like they will last awhile.

I also really like the size of the lunch box. I made the lunches for tomorrow and I fit everything nicely in there. I put yogurt in one holder, so hopefully no leakage!

Re: EasyLunchBoxes

I have Laptoplunches on my Christmas list for the family but I think I am going with these instead. I can only imagine the chaos all of those lids and bottoms will create from the Bentos. I need simple! And they are so much more affordable too. Awesome.

I don't have the rectangle divided container, per se, but if the quality is comparable to the other containers that I do have that are Ziploc brand, then the Easylunchbox containers are like comparing a Tupperware cup to a Dixie cup in terms of quality/durability. Waaayyyy better.

I also bought the Smidgets and they are the perfect size for a dip or condiment and they are small enough to fit just great in the corner of the entree section without disturbing anything.

I can't say enough great things about Easylunchboxes. I definitely tend to be thrifty and after 3 years of buying Target/Wal-mart lunch boxes (and even an LLBean one), I couldn't find the right mix of functionality and durability. The T/WM boxes weren't very durable and were too small for reusable containers-also had trouble finding containers that were the right size for my girls' appetites, BPA free, dishwasher safe, etc. The LLBean box was/is very durable and I would recommend it for a toddler or preschooler snack, but once the girls were in school and needed a full lunch plus a morning snack, it was too small-and the bigger ones were expensive considering that I had to still buy containers.

Anyway, I paid $33 (I think that was with shipping) for 1 set of containers and 2 lunchboxes. I also got a lunchbox for DS free with a local grocery store promo that will fit the container when we go on a trip (the durability of DS's box is nil, but I figure he'll only use it every once-in-a-while and free is free. It is definitely worth my money, because this system is sturdy enough that we'll be using it for at least 2 years and maybe more. I can't say that about our previous system.

Re: EasyLunchBoxes

I'd like to respond to a few comments.

These are NOT EXACTLY like the ziploc containers! These are MUCH better! They are a sturdy, non-flimsy container and lid.

In fact, when my first order came, they were stuck together pretty well. Dispite the note in there warning that their first batch came packed tightly and my gingerly taking them apart, two stuck and one chipped. I emailed the owner just to let her know (not asking for anything ~ they come 4 in a pack and I'd ordered 3 packs, so I had plenty to spare 1). She said that they were fixing the packaging problem and she sent me a whole new 4-pack to replace the 1 container! AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

We were going to do Laptop Lunches at first. Last year was DS's first year of school (K) and we packed lunches. What a joke! We had so many different little containers for food it was a mess! And plastic bags! Yuck. Our lunch drawer was a mess!!!
I was going to get Laptop Lunches through a coop and it was going to be over $100. DH didn't like that at all! He also asked how I'd feel the first time (and the 2nd, 3rd...) that DS absent mindedly tossed one of the little bento's or lids. He's not yet old enough to be trusted with something that costs so much.
There was another lunch thing that was being cooped for about $15 each. Came with stickers to make it look like a bug or alien or something. I did research and learned that each section of the lid had to be snapped in place so the items didn't fall into another compartment. Also the lids were too difficult for kids to open. That took them out of the running.

So I googled around and found these. Sooooo glad we did!!! DH approved. We ordered 2 lunch totes (big sis has to be just like big brother) and 3 packs of containers for the free shipping!! It was just over $50.

These babies do not bend after being in the dishwasher either! They do not get wimpy after that either. Top rack only.

Seriously, these have changed our lunches completely!
Another trick is to use a paper (haven't yet afforded the rubber) muffin cups in one section for something cold that would have to be removed before heating up the whole container. DS won't have heated lunches though, so I've only done this trick here at home. Works great!

I found my solo cups and lids on ebay! It was the cheapest! I think I got about 200 of them!
