Sandbox sand alternative

I'm getting my toddler a sandbox for Christmas. We were at a local Children's museum recently and they had the coolest little rubber or foam pellets in their sand box instead of sand. They were super soft, and not dirty at all. Anyone know where I can buy this for our sandbox? I've been searching with no luck. It might help if I knew what it was called. Google's not coming up with "soft pellet sandbox sand stuff"

I know Lowe's has rubber mulch, which is what they recommend for playgrounds. They might have something similar for sandboxes.

It's not the mulch, that's too shreddy (I know, that's not a word ). It's hard to describe, but it was these super soft little sand colored triangles. Kind of like rubber, but kind of like foam. It was awesome!
