Recommendation please, I need to replace my Moby.

I love the Moby, but it's a bit too warm for summer. Last summer lo and I were both sweating like crazy in it. The things I really like are the support you get in the back/waist from the criss cross tying, and the thick shoulder straps. I have narrow shoulders, so thinner straps tend to slip off.

I'm looking for a carrier that is more breathable, and has the back/waist support, and will do front and back carries, hopefully well into toddler-hood. I'd also like something that is readily available used, because I can't afford to spend an arm and a leg.

I'm leaning towards a Mei Tai right now... Does anyone know if Babies R Us or some other chain has "floor models"?

Do you have a bwing group near you? I would agree with a mt or even a rs (depending on if you can handle one shoulder carries). Yu can actually make one really easily with wider straps, I have a post on here somewhere showing a mt with straps being sewn. It was super easy and only took be about an our or 2 to get it done and it's completely custom to me and my kids so I know it works for us.

Buy a Bali Breeze. Seriously.
I live in Texas and it's 83 degrees today. I had to retire my Moby.
The Bali breeze is much cheaper than most wovens. And it's LIGHT! So breezy.
Sorry... I just got it today and I'm in love.

I don't know much about MTs since DS's legs are too small and he won't let us froggy him.

I don't know of any chain that carries anything good, besides BRU does carry ergo and maybe a pouch sling or something. Definitely try finding a Babywearing group, you'll probably find more options there than in any one store!

We love our MTs. Or if you are comfortable wrapping since you like the Moby, check out http://www.wrapsodybaby.com/. She has lovely guaze wraps which are really light weight but supportive.

My other favorite with this baby is an Olives & Applesauce SSC (Soft Structured Carrier). I have a weak shoulder, so I need the extra padding on the straps. It's kinda like an Ergo, but the clips on the straps are different so you can wear on front much more easily. HTH

so, are you leaning away from wovens?? i know you can sometimes find decently priced ones on www.thebabywearer.com. a woven will last you longer than a guazey wrap (as wovens hold heavier babies than a guaze wrap will comfortably).
