U/S Question
So I am having my anatomy scan in a week and a half - I'll be 23w4d at that point. They did not give me any specific instructions when they scheduled the appointment, and I didn't have any u/s with my last two pregnancies, so I can remember. Am I supposed to have a full bladder? Or an empty bladder? Or does it not matter at 23 weeks along? What were you ladies told? TIA!

Re: U/S Question
I have a 20wk u/s scheduled in a couple weeks and instructions stated full bladder. 32 oz of water within an hour and a half of the appt. :-) Doesn't sound to comfortable.

Re: U/S Question
I've never done anything specific before my 2 anatomy scans and could tell gender and other measurements just fine.

Re: U/S Question
With DD, they stopped giving me any bladder instructions after about 15 weeks. I had numerous ultrasounds.

Re: U/S Question
I was told full bladder. If they don't need a full bladder, it's easier to empty it quickly than fill it quickly

Re: U/S Question
Full bladder! I just had mine at almost 21 weeks, and the tech yelled at me because I peed right before I went in.
It was either that or pee my pants, lol. They want a full bladder so they can check out your body (ovaries, cervix, etc.) and not just the baby. The baby is high enough at this point that they don't need you to have a full bladder to see everything clearly. ![]() I have another in 4 weeks (tech couldn't get all the measurements because baby was bouncing around too much) and I was instructed to have a full bladder at that point OR ELSE! Hahahaha!

Re: U/S Question
Its best to have a full bladder but not to the point of being uncomfortable. I've made that mistake so many times and they always so "go empty your bladder so we can see"
and then it was all for no reason. LOL Last time I went in I just made sure to drink a 33oz bottle of water on my way up and drank 2 more 8oz cups at the water dispenser in the office. I wasn't painfully full until later on and she had my empty my bladder towards the end.

Re: U/S Question
Usually past 20 weeks you don't need a full bladder anymore. I had one at 19 weeks, was suppose to have a full bladder but didn't and they had no problems seeing all they needed to.
