My New Year's fireworks were all the colors of the rainbow! |
Anyone ever been a WIC breastfeeding counselor?
I went to our clinic's event today and apparently made an impression on one of the counselors, b/c she came up to me afterwards and said I'd be good at it and that they're always hiring, lol. She said it's a full-time job and is "in the city." I didn't ask for any further details but was just curious if anyone here has been one or knows someone who's been one or whatever. It's probably not something I'd pursue anytime soon, but it's nice to know that it's a potential option that might be available should the need arise.

No but I was at out WICs breastfeeding week celebration and I was sharing with some of the counselors that I frequent so many different breastfeeding support groups and LCs offices that I feel like I am making a career out of breastfeeding and they too suggested that I could eventually make an actual career out of it. Lol

Re: Anyone ever been a WIC breastfeeding counselor?
I would love to do that, especially if I could bring DS to work with me
I'm seriously considering becoming an LC later in life (after DS and future kids are a bit older) since it's a lot of work.

Re: Anyone ever been a WIC breastfeeding counselor?
I know one EXCELLENT LC that works for the WIC office in my state capital. I don't think she would mind at all if I passed along her email address to you (or yours to her). She provides free advice to many, many ladies and is just one of the most helpful people ever. PM if you want to contact her.

Re: Anyone ever been a WIC breastfeeding counselor?
I saw a flier once at the WIC office saying they were heiring LCs and asked about it. I was told I couldn't apply because I don't have a car. That didn't make sense to me but I guess they have LC's visit new moms in their houses or something...
