lets talk Ear Tubes!!
Hi Everyone... I need some help. My son who is almost 3 1/2 is constantly getting ear infections. At his last appt in December he pediatrician said that after the new year she would like to follow up and potentially send him to Ear/Nose/Throat Dr. for tubes. He has been dairy free for almost a year which has not helped alleviate the ear infections. The past 2 winters he has had 2-4 infections/winter. And now, I think he has another one. He know HATES ALL medicine and even hat ear drops!!! HELP! I am really reluctant for ear tubes....but need to have some help... Give me some pros and cons!!!

Re: lets talk Ear Tubes!!
My daughter had 5 ear infections in 4 months by the time she was 1 they were already talking tubes. I was very reluctant and tired of all the medications so I found an alternative, the chiropractor. I know it sounds a little crazy but it really worked! I was willing to try anything before surgery so I figured I would give him a month and if that did not work then we would get the tubes. After 2 weeks with no antibiotics and 4 visits to the chiropractor the persistent infection of 4 months was finally gone. She is now 15 months and has had a cold twice with no ear infection! Now when she gets a cold we go to the chiropractor instead of the pediatrician he adjusts her and no infections! Our chiropractor is very gentle with kids basically just like he is playing with her and she has never been scared. He even has the device to check her ears and monitor to make sure no infection. I was skeptical but now I am a believer! You have nothing to lose except a little time to prevent a surgery. My pediatrician was not a supporter of this and said it was just luck that it cleared up. I said "the proof is in the pudding! I gave you 4 months and 5 rounds of antibiotics and she still had an infection. It only took him 2 weeks!"

DS1 has tubes and they really aren't that big a deal. Yes, the general anesthesia is scary, but all in all It was well worth it. That said, a friend suggested taking him to a chiro before we did the tubes and I was too chicken. If I had it to do all over again, I would at least try that first, I've since heard from others that it can be very effective.

I would second the chiro suggestion. It worked for DS, too

Re: lets talk Ear Tubes!!
ear tubes scare me. I have a lot of scar tissue from mine and problems with my hearing from them. They aren't as minor as a lot of Doctors make them out to be.
