Info on unassisted birth

Don't really plan on having an unassisted birth, but I do plan on waiting till last min to go to the hospital because I don't want them to make me do thing I don't want to while in labor. I really want to prepare myself In case I end up just wanting to stay home. I guess the only thing I am worried about is the actual birth of the baby. I don't even know what to do. Any good websites on unassisted births? Info anything would help.

Re: Info on unassisted birth

I mostly just watched a lot of UC videos on youtube and the unassisted birth website. I also used the Unhindered Living website as a resource, and with my last UC I printed out the Emergency Childbirth PDF from...somewhere. The c-birth yahoo group, I think. Probably a few vids and the Emergency Childbirth book would be all you'd need. I never actually used the book but since I was UP for my last pregnancy I thought it was good to have around, and it really does cover all the "what if" bases.

All the above plus...

Resuscitation

http://www.homebirth.org.uk/whatif.htm#resus

http://www.reproline.jhu.edu/english...oms/S-141.html (Has some good info though I disagree with cord clamping if it can be avoided)

Research homeopathic medicines that you may want to have on hand.

Good text to have that's written so that non-medical people can understand. Heart & Hands by Davis

Thank you mamas. I am thinking I will just do an unassisted (planed) at home if my pregnancy goes well. My husband will tell me NO WAY but if we just don't "make" it to the hospital he can't really say anything. I have had 2 babies and I KNOW I can do this on my own! My only concern was what to do with the baby after the birth (cord cutting, nose, mouth cleaning, ect) but after reading I think I got this. If not we have a fire station like 1 block from my house they are trained I would love a midwife but they don't allow home births in Okinawa where I live under my insurance. And living in Japan makes it pretty hard to find a new one.
