Well...my next appt is on Wednesday....hopefully I will hear the bean on doppler! I really hope so, I haven't heard this bean yet........they will be going over my blood work and labs and then referring me to my ob.....finally so hopefully I will get my u/s around 12 or 13 weeks-which is right around my mom's and Michael's birthdays....how great would it be for daddy to see his baby for his birthday

I have my first ultrasounds scheduled!! It's on the 23rd. I'll be 12 weeks. I guess they do u/s at 12 and 31 weeks here. Does 31 sound a bit late to you? I'm thinking of paying for one around 22 weeks. I like the idea of finding out if there's something wrong earlier rather than later. Anyway, can't WAIT to see that my little baby is really in there. This last week I have NOT felt pregnant. I keep reminding myself that there's been no bleeding for 2 months and my breasts are still sore, but it's still weird. I need that reassurance.

Yes that sounds super late!!! I have never heard of that before! When I was pregnant with our daughter we PCS'd from Germany to the States and happened to be on a four week vacation visiting my in-laws during the 18-20 weeks window when they do the "big" ultrasound to measure all the organs and make sure everything is on track and there are is nothing wrong. Well, tricare even payed for me to go to a clinic near my inlaws to have that ultrasound there...that's how important they felt it was to have it done around that time frame! I think it's a good decision on your part to go and have one done around 22 weeks even if you have to pay for it - I know I for sure would do that.
Yay for you getting to see your baby soon, that's so exciting! And I'm totally with you on needing the reassurance, even though I am nauseous all day long and have super tender breasts!

I'll have my very first doctor's appointment on the 28th, I'll be 11 weeks and 2 days by then. To me that's just crazy, they have taken my blood already but nobody is even going to look at the results until the 28th. And if I weren't still on prenatals because of nursing our 8 month old, they wouldn't have even given me any! It's as if they feel like the first trimester doesn't even count, even though it is SO important!
It's so weird, back in Germany I got to see a doctor way earlier and he did an ultrasound with every visit ... and here they do so very, very few. I had one done at 6 weeks and 4 days to determine my due date so now I was told they might not even do one when I come in at 11 weeks and 2 days. Are you kidding me?! I want to see our baby so bad and back at 6 weeks and 4 days we hardly saw anything...if the technician hadn't switched on some color thing we wouldn't even have been able to see the heartbeat. I kind of feel cheated a little

I'd love to have ultrasounds at those two times, but only if I got the 18-20 week one as well. That's *the* time to look for problems. At 31 weeks ultrasounds are typically only good for size and position (mostly of course). I'd pay for the 22 week if at all possible.

I feel the same way about reassurance :-/

We're so very excited! We signed the contract, and are just waiting to hear that the water and electric are turned on for the home inspections. We should get those completed sometime this week or early next week. We can't wait to be in our new house!

Even though the first tri is the most important I think doctors/mws don't see you as much because there's not much they can do. Fixing progesterone levels and best rest if bleeding are the only real things they can "fix" in the 1st tri. Ultrasounds to determine dates are nice (and I NEED one lol for my anxiety) but they aren't necessary. It's not right, but since they can't "save" baby if something goes wrong I think they don't feel it's necessary to see women that early. I don't agree, especially for 1st time moms. They need to make surewe're eating properly, in good health etc. Plus, if someone wants the 1st tri screening it needs to be done 11-13 weeks, what happens if you don't see them until 12 weeks??

Ultrasounds that often are not normal either. I wish they were though Many don't even offer the 1st trimester ultrasound (I'll only go to docs who do lol). The 18-20 week ultrasound is the one insurance see as necessary sometimes as well as doctors. I only got a 6 and 8 week ultrasound because I was seeing an RE who does them routinely since he does fertility treatments. Otherwise my MW only does the anatomy scan. We're paying for a 3D/4D ultrasound in the late 2nd tri/early 3rd tri. I love seeing our baby :-)

I hope you do get an ultrasound mama, I'd feel the same way as you!

I have officially thrown up for the first time. I was hoping I would make it to the 2nd trimester with no throwing up! Hopefully it was just a one time thing.

Other than throwing up this morning I've been feeling pretty great as far as being pregnant!

My husband and I have decided that we're not going to find out what gender this baby is! Hopefully we can stick to it, and not give in!

So I posted last week, that we did not get the house that we wanted, because someone outbid us. Well they emailed us on Thursday and apparently the people that outbid us, did not have the extra cash to back up their bid, so it didn't go through! So turns out we did get the house!!! Sorry about the throwing up but congrats on the house!

I'm so tired, I want to go to bed, but DS has been throwing up all night and I am pretty good with the yucky stuff, but i could barely handle the sight, let alone the smell...I feel so bad, he's looks so helpless. I hope he's done for the night!
