Diaper Swappers

It's finished washing and I can still smell barnyard! I haven't smelled this after washing before. What is going on and how do I fix this.

I'm going to wash again tomorrow. I hope this doesn't continue. I'm bummed

things were going so well. I out of nowhere started getting some staining on some inserts too.

Barnyard smell means your diapers are not getting clean enough. Here are a few ideas to trouble shoot.

1. How long are you going between washes? I had the same issue and ammonia issues when I went past every other day wash.

2. How big are your loads? If the machine is too full there is not enough room to agitate, if needed break into 2 smaller loads.

3. You may need to adjust detergent, use more, or find another brand that works better. I had to switch brands.

What is your wash cycle right now?

I wash every other day and each load I would say is a medium load. I may not be using enough detergent. That is what I was thinking. How NYC should I be using?

I am not familiar with nyc. But you could try using more detergent and see if it helps

Oh its really crap shoot, different for everyone. i went from using 1/4 of a cap to 3/4 of a cap and it worked with ours. I also switched detergent away from the ecological kind to a normal detergent.

You could also add calgon it boosts the detergent.

I thought barn smell meant you had buildup. When I was having the same problem I tried increasing my detergent and it got a lot worse. I decreased it and added some extra rinses and it went away after a while.

I battled ammonia followed by barnyard stink, so maybe that was why my advice was different

I ended up bleaching as the last resort.

I thought barnyard sent was diapers not getting clean enough just like ammonia.
