worried about my baby's head
I have twins and im concerned about their heads. My baby boy has lost all his hair and it seems like you can see his scull like where it comes together if that makes any sense. Is that normal? I can even see his soft spot. He is almost 6 months but really 3 months because he was born early.
My baby girls head looks a liitle flat on her right side and her ear looks a little closer to her face. Not a huge difference though. Ive ben laying her on her other side but she will roll back over to her flat side. I cant keep her off that side and i dnt want it to get worse. what can i do? Its not bad enough for a helmet or anything. i mean nobody is symmetrical r we? |

Re: worried about my baby's head
Just keep rotating sides. We found things got better as our son got mobile. For us, they didn't recommend a helmet for back of the head but said if it impact facial features, they would so you may want to take her to a neurosurgeon and just get it checked. You have to do it before 12 months (or earlier) or it will not help.

Re: worried about my baby's head
My baby did too. She would roll right back to her right side, no matter what. Propping did not even help. But after a few months of mobility, it evened out. When she sleeps, she still turns to that side.

I would bring it to the pedis attention. My daughter has a lumpy not round head and it turns out her skull is partially fused. She is being seen by a neurosurgeon and will be evaluated for possible surgery to reshape her head.

Re: worried about my baby's head
what do you mean by lumpy? My son's head is round but I can see his soft spot and his scull but it doesnt look lumpy. My daughter's head just looks a little flatter on right side than the left. Does your daughter's head look like you can see where her scull has came together or does she just have flat spots?

Re: worried about my baby's head
When I look at pictures of my sister and I when we were babies our heads look super weird! Really flat on the sides. We were preemies also. Now they are fine, lol.

Re: worried about my baby's head
Google Positional Plagiocephaly. There are strategies you can do at home to help correct positional plagio.
We were able to reverse DFS's without a helmet. Preemies are particularly at risk for it. We were referred for a second opinion by a neurosurgeon, too.

Babies lose their hair. That part is totally normal.

Re: worried about my baby's head
Consider an infant chiropractor, who can help with the muscle imbalance that causes them to favor one position. We saw one with my son and it really helped.

Re: worried about my baby's head
