Recommend a vegan cookbook!
Can someone recommend a REALLY basic vegan cookbook? Read: I have 4 young kids, have never been vegan, and don't have a Whole Foods (not till next year anyway)... thus complicated recipes that require a pricey blender, and/or 12+ ingredients, including things like "vegan chick'n strips," are out, lol. (Although, I do have a fairly decent blender.)
Wanting to put family on a plant-based diet for health reasons. Thanks!! |

Re: Recommend a vegan cookbook!
I do not have a good cookbook for you but I do know of a GREAT website HERE. I am a vegetarian and had to cut all dairy while being my DS. Her recipes are delish. Hope this helps.

Re: Recommend a vegan cookbook!
I personally did not dig vegonomicon. But, I love love love Happy Herbivore and Everyday Happy Herbivore and they are on sale (kindle edition) on Amazon right now for 4.99.
I also follow the author on facebook, she is so inspiring, her name is Lindsay S Nixon. There is also a vegan veggie support thread on here! It is not horribly active, but if you sub to the thread you will get updates. Look for blogs on vegan cooking, there are gobs of great ones, even gluten free vegan blogs, which rocks for me since I recently went gf too! Vegan, Veggie Supoort Thread

Re: Recommend a vegan cookbook!
Not a cookbook, but I must share this blog that I enjoy reading. She makes amazing vegan meals for her and her little daughter!

Re: Recommend a vegan cookbook!
I just got some cookbooks in the mail after checking out a bunch from the library. I ended up buying "Chloe's Kitchen" "Everyday Happy Herbivore" "The Vegan Table" and "Vegan on the Cheap". I like the Post Punk Kitchen website from Veganomicon, but I didn't really like the book as much as I thought I would. I didn't like Vegan with a Vengence. I like to make thinks from scratch and rather recipes that don't require tofu and seiten and tempeh. I also like to eat healthy and I think I will look into the first Happy Herbivore cookbook as well.
I can't say my kids like much of the food, but they didn't like much of the food I was making before either. So I can't suggest any kid friendly ones.
