Do mei tais need infant inserts for newborns and tiny babies?

M due in July. I have a mei tai that I use occasionally for back carrying my toddler boys. It is a sweet slings mei tai that I bought here on the swap. Do I need any special inserts or anything or can I just use it for front carries without anything special?

I just froggied my newbies legs up. If the carrier comes up to high on them, you can fold a blanket up underneath. I love mei tais for little babies.
