Preparing for low supply again
I have hypoplastic breasts from having pcos since I hit puberty. I had low supply with DS and always had to supplement. I'll have a starter supplementer ready, as well as Goat's Rue this time around, and will rent a scale. My question is about pumps. I really don't want to spend a fortune on another open system pump, yet the Medela brand worked best for me last time. I could rent a Symphony for $35-45 a month, which would save money, but they're a pain to deal with and not discreet if you're out of the house. Any suggestions I may not be thinking of?

Re: Preparing for low supply again
The Lansinoh Affinity double electric is less expensive by a lot and I found that it worked very well. It is kind of loud, but it has good suction and is comfortable to use.
I think goat's rue helped a lot, and I'll second the suggestion for domperidone. It helped me significantly both times I've nursed babies. I could pump twice as much with the domperidone. Still not a lot, but better than nothing! I really like the Motherlove More Milk Special Blend capsules to get the goat's rue and other milk-making herbs. I was choking down loads of individual fenugreek, alfalfa, blessed thistle, etc, until I found the More Milk stuff. So much nicer to get it all in one capsule, plus I think the liquid herb extracts work better overall, at least for me. |
