If you were looking to buy a new automobile (SUV in my case) and had the option of outboard captain's chairs in the second row, and a full third row, OR a full bench in both, which would you pick?
If it helps pick, I have three RFers - 3mo 3yo 38lb, 39in 4yo 31lb, 40in Possible seats are OnBoard 35, TFP, XTSL, Classic Boulevard CS, and I think I'm at a point where I'm ok turning the 4yo around if I need to. I would just FF her in a seat we already have or I'm able to buy a combo seat now.

Re: If you could pick. . .
Are you planning on any more kids?
I'd get captain's chairs with 3 kids. I'd put the youngest in one captain's chair, and remove or stow the other. I'd put the older two kids in the third row and have them climb into their seats while you buckle in the baby, and then buckle them.

And I have never heard of seats not being removable in the back of a SUV or van. Our's are heavy, but as long as your strong, they are pretty easy to take out.

Re: If you could pick. . .
The Radian does RF in the 3rd row, especially with an AA.
I was talking about kneeling in the space of the other capt's chair and buckling all 3 from there. It looks like the seats are not easily removable but they tumble easily, so if you leave one empty you have access to the 3rd row.

Re: If you could pick. . .
I would opt for the bench IF it got me an extra seat. 3 kids plus 3 friends makes 3 in each row much more convenient down the line.

True, they do seem to tumble pretty easily.
So you mean baby in the driver's side captain's chair, passenger side tumbled forward, and the older two in the third row however they fit best? One has more cargo room. Makes this decision hard. But fun

I'd definitely do buckets...it's a pain to get kids over a bench seat back and into the 3rd row, especially if they are RF! I had 3 in a suburban with middle bench...you can do it, and it's fine...but then We traded for a minivan with middle buckets and it was so much better! Now we have 4 RFers so it's super nice to be able to plop them into the center and let them climb into their seats in the 3rd row, than trying to get them (or get them to climb) over a seat back. I've never put them in through the back door like I hear some parents do, but I'd imagine it's a similar feel...and that's not really an option for us as we definitely use that space for a stroller and other items, pretty regularly, and I do not want to remove them to get the kids in and out every time.

Re: If you could pick. . .
Three in a row isn't an issue in the 2nd row; it's the 3rd row that is a big PITA
![]() Which ones has more cargo room?
