Laboring tub...

Anyone have experience laboring in a birthing tub and then delivering out of the water?

DDC.....I did this with all 4 of my kids. I tend to get super nautious during transition and the heat of the water makes it ten times worse. I love laboring in the tub, but ultimately always get out and deliver in bed.

Re: Laboring tub...

With my vbac baby I spent hours laboring in the tub. I got in at around 5cm and stayed there just about the entire labor. I personally think I got in to early and it made my labor last longer. I really wanted to birth in the tub, but I ended up having the baby on my bed. The water was really nice. I plan on laboring in the tub again this time, but I plan on waiting longer to get in.

yup..last baby I labored the entire time in the tub..it was awesome and I will do it again this time too. But I delivered on my bed, cause I just couldn't get a good position in the tub.

Yes! With DS1 I had a water birth and I planned to have one with DD. I labored in the tub but it wasn't helping ease my back labor so I got out and delivered her in bed.

Re: Laboring tub...

I labored with DD1 in the tub and then delivered her on the bed. With DD2 I labored and delivered in the tub. I am planning on another waterbirth with this LO. It was wonderful. I agree with PP, don't get into the tub too early because it can slow down labor. I waited until I was at a 4/5 before getting into the tub. Before then I did get into the shower and sat on a birthing ball...I had horribly long labors with pit
