Prefold no cover
Hello,
I was on the DS message boards and I cant remember where I read this but I could swear someone said they use a prefold and snappi, no cover. WHAT ??? This totally blows my mind and I've been obsessing on how this could work for several days. What happens? Isnt there wicking? Is it a super mega thick towel type diaper? Anyone know about this? TIA! |

Re: Prefold no cover
You just change them right after they pee. Usually people do coverless around the house, and use a wrap when out and about. Going coverless lets the fabric breath and is better on sensitive skin. My LO pees a lot! so in order for us to go coverless she needs about 5-6 layers of bamboo lol You don't expect them to stay dry on the outside, just the moment the moisture hits the outside you change em. That's why it's best at home

Re: Prefold no cover
A lot of people do this but they don't mean they do it all the time. When we go "coverless" we just change as soon as the baby is wet so it really only works if you are in a place to do that and when you can be paying attention. So obviously not out running errands, when I'm really busy doing something or in the carseat. So at home playing or in the yard works best.

Re: Prefold no cover
Snappi is NOT supposed to be used without a cover. If you want to go coverless in prefolds, try pinning.

Re: Prefold no cover
also, generally when our babies are going coverless i think they're also going pants-less! that way you can tell when they're wet and not have to wash pants all day long! i remember not understand that part of coverless at first!

Re: Prefold no cover
I would *NOT* use a Snappi without a cover because, imo, those things are dangerous and get snagged on carpet/furniture very easily.
I often pin a prefold on my baby and let her go coverless. Obviously there's nothing over the diaper - the baby will either have nothing on except for the diaper, or a diaper and a t-shirt. Prefolds get saturated so easily, I can't really put a cover over them... It just makes me uncomfortable to think of how wet the baby must get if the prefold isn't taken off at the first sign of moisture.

Yes, the only times I've done this is when I watched DS like a hawk and changed him right after he peed.

We frequently pinned a flat or prefold on ds with out a cover. But I am one to change a diaper at the first sign of wetness. We did it at home only. Usually with just a tee shirt on , maybe fleece or wool shorts/longies

Re: Prefold no cover
I like to do this at home! I put a flat, prefold, or fitted on without a cover. It is especially great for clearing up rashes! I usually put a doubler in though, so that I can go a little longer between changes. My silly boy is an expert at peeing THE MOMENT I get a clean diaper on him! Lol
