Do you take the package to the post office and just drop it in a mail slot there or can you just mail it from the house?

Depends on the package. Most of mine I print the shipping label, and stick it in the postal box. If it's international or weighs a lot, I go inside.

I normally just put them in my mailbox. But my mailbox is on my front porch, so I feel really safe about doing that. Or if I have a bunch, then I drive them to the PO blue box. Mine is a drive through which is super handy.

You can schedule a pick up for the next day or drop it off (not usually in the mail slot though) or track down your mailman and hand it to them.

My mailman is scatterbrained. I would be afraid the package wouldn't make it to the post office. This happened to someones utility payment. I know because the payment showed up in our mailbox unprocessed.

I also prefer to have confirmation I delivered it to the post office. Even if you purchased insurance you cannot make a claim without evidence it was mailed. When it scans at the po it is proof it was actually mailed. If your mailman accepts it but it doesn't get processed they can claim you never actually mailed it. The lady at the post office told me this when I asked her. Printing out a label from paypal is not proof it was taken to the post office.
