Heartbeat rate and gender?

Did your baby's heartbeat ever correspond with gender? For example, higher with girls and lower with boys?

I had an ob appt today and hb was steady in the 160s. With both DS's their hb were in the 140-150s. My ob said its an old wives tale..but seems to ring true. Whats your take?

Yes, all 3 of my kids did. dd was 160's, ds1 was 140's, ds2 135.

DDC, that has never ever been right for us. Typical HB for our babies is 160 and we have 3 boys and a girl so I guess it was right once

Nope, DS was always high 150s to low 160s.

It was for us, all 3 of our girls were in the 160's and our DS was in the low 150's or high 140's. My sister has 3 boys and all were in the 140's-150's and my sil also has a son that was the same, so my personal theory is yes it is a good indicator.
I have my 16 wk check on Tuesday and I'm anxious to see what it is this time...I'll be making my predictions if only for fun!

First was 185, girl. Second was 175, girl. This one was 170, and dr told me to expect another girl. He personally does feel like he's seen a correlation in his practice, but nothing scientific or proven.

I also have acne and awful morning sickness, which have actually been proven to be linked to girls. Dr told my DH that his hopes for a boy are long gone.

Do you have a link for this? I've done a lot of research on MS and have not come across any scientific studies linking fetal gender with MS severity. FWIW I had horrible MS with vomiting >15 times per day up to week 20 with DS.

There's hope I have three girls...the first was 165, the second 155 & the third 160.This little bean was 170....and was looking very boyish at my last u/s. I have had HG with all my pregnancies...and this time around has not been any better. I don't think heartrate or MS are indicative of gender.

For me, MS isn't an indicator at all so I agree with you there. I have 2 girls and a boy. I was so sick with DD1 that I lost 12lbs before starting to gain any of it back. With DD2, I felt fine, only a bit of nausea here and there but her pregnancy was the easiest on me. I swore she'd be a boy b/c of how different my pregnancies were, she was definitely a girl! DS, I got sick all the time and had bad morning sickness my entire first trimester and continued to have nausea and some bad morning sickness days throughout the rest of my pregnancy.

DDC---it was very wrong for us. I have all boys...the LOWEST was high 150s
