Need a negative

We were pregnant this summer, due in August and found out in May that our daughter had Trisomy 13. She was born July 5th (induced because I had pre-eclampsia) and lived for two hours. Our midwife told us to wait a year then we can try again. I got my first period Aug. 17th. We didn't use condoms and were just timing it but there was some "mis communication" or not thinking at all on hubby's part and it was the EXACT time I would have been ovulating last week. I'm a bit freaked out. We want another baby but are still hurting and grieving. I'd like to lose 20-30lbs before we get pregnant. I also don't want to risk a m/c if it's too soon after having a baby.

So.. I'm usually on a 28 day cycle. That would put my period on Friday. I'm getting a bit anxious! I'm ready to hit the store and start testing... need to calm down so I thought I'd come here.

tested today and it was negative but it was a blue dollar store test. I'll wait to see if I start then test. (have one more dollar store test hope I can wait!) I do want to be pregnant I just don't feel emotionally ready after Ella.

So sorry for your loss

The first couple of cycles post-partum are often unusual, so it's likely that you didn't ovulate when you think you did based on timing. Hope things work out for you.

Thanks for the info. I really want to lose some lbs before I put them on again. It's been hard because I have turned to food when I've been sad. Working on breaking that cycle.
