I need ideas for inexpensive but effective fencing

We currently have a split rail fence, but I want to replace it with something else that can actually keep other animals out of our yard (dogs are on an invisible fence so our dogs are fine, but others can still get in our yard). I don't want to spend a fortune (no more that $2000, would love to spend less than $1000). We live in a residential neighborhood so I need something that still looks nice. I am attaching a picture of what my friend is doing. I am just not sure if my neighbors would like this type of fence.

No privacy fence, my husband want to be able to see through it.

Please attach photos or link to photos please. THANKS

Why don't you just keep the split rail and add chicken wire like they're doing in the picture? That's what we have.

ETA: You can even get different color fencing so it blends better if you want.

I think that picture is a great idea - not as much work or cost as replacing the whole fence, and it still looks good.

That fencing in the picture is perfect and you can see through it too! If we are eer able to purchase a house i would use that fencing for it. Especially since i love ivy growing on fencing.

This is what we have decided to do.
