Question about knit patterns and re-selling?

So is it ok to sell an item you knit from a pattern (a knitter's version, not a commercial version) after you have used the item? I am not sure what to do with soaker/shorties/etc as we outgrow them. (fwiw I would never try to make any profit on my time or effort spent knitting, just maybe try to recoup some of the cost of yarn on items that are still usable)
