Fav Bible Devotions for 4&5 yr old to start our school day?

I currently have been using Devotions for the children's hour as part of our bible lesson, but feel like I am constantly having to omit or soften wording of portions of their studies. Amazed at how they word these devotions to say things like talking about men with men and women with women and the evil things that we being done after the tower of babel and such.

I am just wanting something to have them hear the positive things that God has provided for us and how much he loves us, not get into all the history side of the old testiment. I would like the kids to learn to love God for his mercy and kindness at this age, and later on learn about all the heartache and pain that has gone along with history.

Any suggestions?

I've heard rave reviews about the Jesus Storybook Bible, and it does have a curriculum with it as well. I think the curriculum is based for Sunday school, but I saw one lesson and it could be adapted.

Long Story Short - I haven't actually used it, but I want to...it is a long book but puts long Bible stories into 10-20 minutes short stories for families with kids .

What HS curriculum are you using? A Christian based curriculum might have more of what you are looking for, if you are looking into getting curriculum. I really liked the Bible part of MFW K. It seemed perfectly portioned for little minds and easy to understand. I would think HOD and things like that would be similar.

Jesus Story Bible and Long Story Short are great!
Might enjoy Susan Hunt's books as well. "Discovering Jesus in Genesis" "Discovering Jesus in Exodus" "Big Truths for Little Kids" are three of her many titles.
Sinclair Ferguson has some great ones for that age too. It includes several simple activities with the devotion, and a memory verse. "Big Book of Questions and Answers" and "Big Book of Questions and Answers About Jesus"

This fall I'm actually adapting the Preschool age 4-5 Show Me Jesus Sunday school curriculum for daily devotional use right now and loving it! Right now we're on week 5 of a 13 week study on God Always Keeps His Promises, tracing the promises of God from the fall/birth of Seth all the way through the OT to the birth of Jesus.

We actually get a free magazine type devotional that comes in the mail every few months. It's called Keys for Kids. It's a short passage of scripture, a story to read that relates, a key verse for the kids, and a few simple questions to discuss. We really like it.
