Diaper Swappers

My friend just called and said her 18mos old keeps pushing the chest clip down to her belly and taking her arms out while mom is driving. Sometimes she will stop if mom grabs her knee and tells her to get her arm back in but most times she wont. She has tightened the straps so much that they have left red marks but dd still manages to wiggle her arms free. She has started spanking her b/c she'll try to lean over and unbuckle her 5mos old brothers seat while mom tries to pull over but she still does it literally every time they are in the car. I suggested enlisting dds 'help' in keeping brother safe, letting her get her arms in and doing the chest clip herself, letting her do brothers chest clip, and then praise her for being such a big helper. What else can she do? Highly doubtful but shes desperate, she wanted to know if theres anything on the market to stop her dd? Any and all suggestions would be awesome! Tia!

This may be a stupid question, but is the chest clip up high enough?

She said its level with her arm pits and even tried raising it a bit to try to make it harder-which didnt work

Oh wait. I just saw that the child moves the chest clip. Now I get it. Duh me.

My question is she rear or forward facing? I wonder if the straps are above her in forward facing position, and if so, this makes it easier to remove her arms.

Could something like the fuzzy part of thick velcro be stuck onto the straps under the chest clip, so she wouldn't be able to push the clip down?

She is ff. I will let her know the higher slots make it easier to wiggle out. Velcro below might work-would that be safe though(Im thinking of the no after market products rule)?

Velcro on the chest clip would be a heck of a lot safer than a FF 18 month old half out of their harness

What seat is she in? Seats with continuous harnesses are easier to escape from.

She's in a britax blvd. Does that one have a continuous harness?
