Name help
So we are having boy #2 after 3 girls first. Ds1 is named Evan and DH likes the name Ian for Ds2. I like the name as well but think its too similar to Evan, what do y'all think?

Re: Name help
Ian and Evan made it to our top picks for this baby. I tend gravitate to "like" sounding names, but those 2 names look so different makes it a bit easier to distinguish I would say. similar yes, but both really great names!

Re: Name help
Some of my boys' names are similar, and I have never had any issues with it. I think those two names sound great as siblings.

Re: Name help
I think you'll be fine using them both. I probably wouldn't personally because I'm picky about my names sounding alike in any way, but I don't think they're so much alike that it'll confuse people... so you should be fine.

Re: Name help
DDC: I am the same way, I don't like my kids names sounding too much alike. One DD is named Emma and I liked many names that were similar, Ella & Emily. In the end we didn't want two kids to sound similar and make the other kids names sound like they do not belong. If we had always done "E" names then it would be a different story.

Re: Name help
I think Ian goes well with Evan and isn't too close.

Re: Name help
I like the way they sound together... similar yet distinguishable. I don't think there will be confusion.

Re: Name help
I don't think it would be a problem.
I always think in terms of the vowels, because that's what you hear first when someone calls you from another room or tries to get your attention. So I wouldn't call my kid "Bob" because in those situations it would sound too much like "Mom." Not sure if that makes sense but it's gotten me this far
