Cure for chapped skin
At 3-1/2 years old my DD is still a finger sucker. Recently she has started to wipe her fingers across her upper lip. This has caused severe chapped skin above her lip, and on her nose. It is all red and dry.
What would be the best cure??

We still deal w this, lanolin works wonders, I apply at night after her bath, usually cleared up by am or eucerin cream not lotion (has alcohol in and could further the process and burn). Also I did lanolin as a bebe because is some ended up in her mouth no biggie.
Btw our DD is 5 she's dealing w it now and she told me tonight that her face actually hurts, poor kid. HTH

Re: Cure for chapped skin
I agree with the above, plus calendula. I would probably rub in some coconut oil to help moisturize and then put a thin coat of lanolin over top to help keep the moisture in.

Re: Cure for chapped skin
Yup, i have used lanolin, cocoa butter or the clear pure vit e oil from the drugstore. Which ever one is closer to where we are in the house.

Re: Cure for chapped skin
I really like the unscented CJ's Butter. I slather my baby in it several times a day due to eczema. However, I usually just stick with coconut oil for his face. I will have to look into getting some plain lanolin.

Re: Cure for chapped skin
I make a body butter with shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, apricot seed oil... and it is amazing.
If you don't want to go that far, you could always just use a dab of coconut oil. |
