Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
Over the years I have bought various mail organizers, none of which have kept paper clutter under control. Mail tends to sit on a kitchen counter next to my stove (yeah, I don't really think that's safe!)
We don't have an actual office, but we do have a cabinet in our dining room for our desk and laptop. There are doors that close to conceal the paper mess inside there. I finally have decided that I would like to hang a mail organizer on the inside of the cabinet doors. That way I can have an easy place to put mail that will also be out of sight! I just don't want this mail organizer to be a failure like the others have been. I found this organizer that is designed for use in classrooms, but I think it may work for me. However, it is not attractive at all. It is bright red, and a plastic or vinyl material: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re...w/d/B003DNEKZW I am just wondering if anyone has seen something similar to this in a more attractive style, or if you can suggest something else that may work even better??

Re: Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
I use a flip top file box I bought at Target. It holds 10+ hanging file folders. I use one for each person, one for receipts, one for catalog I want to keep.
It is similar to this but smaller and with a flip top. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 |

Re: Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
I turned a priority mail box into a slim file. I labeled each hanging folder by month so now when bills come in they go straight in there. I have a few other folders labeled too. I heard the easiest way to cut clutter is to "file never pile".
..I've had that wall file on my wishlist. I think it could work. I'd stick mine on our huge bulletin board that's turned into a clutter collage. |

Re: Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
We have a hanging mail organizer similar to that and we love it! It keeps all the clutter off of the kitchen counters and helps separate everything. We even designated a pouch for keys and sunglasses because we didn't have anywhere to put those things. We also keeps a small flip top file box where I file things after I take them out of the pouch, but that's because my filing cabinet and desk are in the basement and I don't always have the time/ability to run down and file it right away and don't want it to go back into the pouch with the things I still have to deal with.

^Do you recall where you bought your hanging organizer? Does it look any fancier than the one I posted the link to?

Re: Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
I found these but they more expensive http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re...ch-alias%3Daps Could you buy a can of spray paint made for plastic and at least change the color?
ETA: I looked closer at the one you linked up and it is slim not the ones I posted at all. Could you maybe make your own using pretty file folders and using clear packing tape to close the sides on each and then add brads to attach them to each other? Re: Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
I also use a hanging file thingy. I use this one from Target, except it has a pretty pattern on it:
http://www.target.com/p/greenroom-re...s/-/A-13421700 That's how I organize our incoming paper clutter. I have a folder for unsorted mail, so that if I don't have time to go through everything I can do it later, instead of just leaving it spread all over the counter or in the entryway. I have folders for me, my husband, etc. and one that is for stuff that needs to be filed, and another for stuff that needs to be "dealt with," and one is just for take out menus and coupons. I just recently put it together but am already seeing a huge difference! Then we have a Wonderfile for our bills, so once our mail is sorted I put the bills in a folder in that. It's the thing from the infomercial, but I got it for $8 at Big Lots. It's actually pretty cool, and keeps our billing/mailing drawer nice and neat because I store stamps, a calculator, envelopes, etc. right inside of it. http://www.asseenontvus.com/wonder-file/ I just got rid of our regular filing cabinets in our office, and converted everything to a binder system. I like it a lot better already.

Re: Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
I have this next to my front door. On top is one with two pockets and it holds gift cards, sunglasses, sunscreen, dh's wallet. Below that are two of the one pocket holders. The bottom one is for mail.
My DH takes the mail upstairs to our home office (a tiny desk in the corner of our room) every other week when he does bills. http://www.realsimple.com/home-organ...24/page12.html

Re: Help me find the perfect mail organizer!
Sorry! Just saw this. I bought it in store at Target last fall or winter, so about a year. I am proud of it because our entry way is the only thing I have organized how I want it.
