Hello recently pulled my 9yo out of ps I'm still working on what curriculum we are going to use and in the meantime I wanted to do some lessons on the renaissance. Well actually middle age-renaissance and Elizabethan etc. Any ideas for us? I've already checked out all the books relevant to the subject at our local library (a grand total of 4 books) I would like yo focus on the everday life's of people during this time as opposed to the arts. Any creative ideas from you smart mamas? Also any books or materials for this subject would rock!

Mr. Donn has a unit on the Renaissance http://worldhistory.mrdonn.org/renaissance.html Mr. Donn has a unit on everything LOL I use his units a good deal for my kids and usually find what I want and then some (I get side tracked easily with history). I haven't used this one yet as we haven't gotten this far and then I got distracted and started over but typically Mr. Donn's stuff is worth while.

Those are some historic fiction set in that time. The library system should have at least the first two. Also, check and see if there is an SCA group around you (Society for Creative Anachronism) as they should have some resources.

Where are you in Oklahoma, anyway? Depending on where you are, I think I have a curriculum I'm not using right now that covers the Rennaisance. It is set for grades 4-8, so you might have to do some tweaking for it.

I have sent an email to the society of creative anarchism but they haven't replied it's been a couple of weeks maybe I should send another?

I would think someone from the SCA would've contacted you by now. Do they have a website that shows events? If so, see if there's one near and go to it. Rennaisance faires are fun, too, but they are usually in the summer/early fall. I'll try and remember to see what else I can come up with.
