Felting means the wool has shrunk and you usually can't separate the stitches. It's actually a good thing because it makes them a more bulletproof cover. Seems like a good "problem" to me.

^^ that exactly! It's more bullet proof with the felting. There's not so much though that they're stiff. They're both still suuuper stretchy.
