Excited - gender reveal party next Sat

Next Thurs, Jan 10 I have my 20 week ultrasound. We're going to get them to seal the gender in an envelope and we'll take to a baker and have a cake made with a pink or blue inside. We're having a few friends and family over on Saturday and we'll cut the cake and all find out together. My husband thinks it's stupid but I think it's fun. It'll just be a few people and we'll have some snacks and cake. Praying the baby gives the tech a good view of his/her parts.

so how does that work when you don't want to find out the gender? do you just not look at the screen the whole time? Oh man I would not be able to resist seeing my baby

She kept the screen towards her until the end then she showed us the baby (husband isn't allowed in until they are done all the stuff they need to do) just not the crotch and she didn't tell us the gender. She printed some crotch shots with the gender written on them (she wrote, "I'm a dude" hehe) and put those in an envelope. We gave the envelope to the baker to open and they noted what it said and gave it back to us.

How fun! A friend of mine did this except she knew the gender and her mom ripped into her cupcake so fast! Everyone got an individual cupcake to eat at the same time instead of one big cake. It was cute

That sounds so fun! We had them keep the gender from us this time too. We took a little note card for the tech to write it down and we took it to a place that is special to us to open. Then we went and got balloons and did the balloons in a fancy box for the kids. It was awesome!
