How mainstream is cloth in your area?

The thread on Sears.com selling cloth diapers got me wondering, how mainstream is CDing in your town? I live in a smallish city (population of 700,000) in East Tennessee and when I first started using cloth, 6yrs ago, it was not the norm. But, cloth has become very common here, we have had two b&m stores, and when we go out I see a lot of fluffy bums. How mainstream/common is it where you live?

It's not. I live in a town of 800 but very near a town of 50,000. There is no store locally that sells cloth. There is one 45 miles away.

It is becoming a little more common though. I've seen a few lots of cloth for sale on Craigslist.

Very not Mainstream. It's working slowly though. We have two diaper stores in a 40 mile radius

I live in a town of 1300 and it is not very common...in fact I think I know one person who CD for a short time and that is it! The nearest B & M stores that sell CD's are over an hour away, and I think in my province there is maybe 4 of those stores (1 million-ish people here, but very spread out)

Not very....I know one other person IRL who uses cloth. There is one store that has a few cloth diaper brands as part of their overall inventory (it's a kids store...clothes, toys, etc.) That's about it for our smallish city.

Re: How mainstream is cloth in your area?

we live in massachusetts about 1/2 an hour north of boston and we are odd balls around here...i do not know anyone in real life that cloth diapers or has more than 3 kids and only know 1 person with 3 kids lol. Also I am realizing how extra weird we are because I am having a very hard time finding anyone who homeschools, i cant find any sort of co-op or group! We do not belong here, we want to move sooooo bad!

When I came across the wonderful world of cloth diapers when people see them they love them and shocked at same time.
I am from NJ and I know everyone will look at me wierd if I told them. There are a couple of stores though throughout the state and awhile ago there was a neat little store in Red Bank that had everything!

Western Mass they cd a little more--couple more stores.

AFM I am sure people do it around here Not my town specifically but probably more in the country. But there is only one cd store I think in the my state and not sure if it is B&M but it is pretty far away.

When I started to cd I was surrounded by a ton of women who did so that is how I started my research. I was in WV. Practically all the moms in the breast feeding support group did and it always turned into a cd discussion group There is a store in the town I lived in now.

In NY capital region. I would run into some from time to time at a grocery co-op and I got a ton of responses to my garage sale--people asking for cloth. But I never really hung out with people who did. I think I was always more excited about it then they were

I love in a small Texas town of about 3,500. While tons of people here homeschool, grow their own food, etc., they think cding is crazy. I converted one friend, but all of my others think I'm a loon.

Are you on Facebook? There is a NH/MA CD group. We have a lot of local moms that CD. There are a few NH CD stores and Diaper Lab in Boston.

I am south of Boston and know lots of cloth users. Not sure if it is because of my mom circles (HMN, LLL, etc) or if it is just gaining popularity. There is a CD store in Boston and lots of other online stores that are open to locals.
